THE PROCESS

To put it bluntly, I was hired at Eureka to reinvigorate the marketing and creative efforts that went dry during the pandemic. A logotype and two brand colours were the only assets provided upon hiring, along with a dead social media presence. In charge of marketing, as well as creative development, there was a lot of room to think of the possibilities of where the visual identity of the brand could go. One of the first things I designed for Eureka was the current logo - a visual representation of the company name. In retrospect, this was certainly (subconsciously) inspired by Paula Scher’s Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada’s logo redesign, which, I will say, absolutely blew my mind when I first saw it in a college logo design class. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you check it out, because, wow, just wow. Thankfully, the logo I designed also garnered that same reaction from my boss and colleagues, and ultimately paved the way for my future creative success with Eureka.

I spent a lot of time experimenting with this visual identity. Some of the pieces I designed did not officially make it into the Eureka brand canon, but were snuck into social media posts as graphics accompanying text or by themselves as filler. Additionally, I provided all of the copywriting over all platforms, visual direction for the website, designed business cards and wraps for two vehicles, and managed all digital advertising. I was also the general manager for a couple of months but we don’t talk about that.
